Biloxi, The adventure begins!

Image
I have been terrible terrible terrible at blogging. I am not really sure why since I have SO much time on my hands right now. So as many of you knowI moved to be with my sweetheart in Biloxi, Mississippi in the beginning of August..I would like to update everyone on all our adventures thus far, if you would call them adventures heehee! I got here knowing that I would have to wait a few weeks for Sam to move in..well it's been a couple months and I am still living alone. Which is fine, better than I thought...the movies make coming home to an empty apartment way scarier than it actually is. Sam does stay over the weekends and to me it is exciting..it's like getting to have A sleepover with my best friend every weekend! Woo!Woo! This town that we live in...well their is nothing here...just the base, that is basically it. There are towns that are between 15-30 Min. away that are alright. We spend a lot of time netflixing and all that jazz...it's one of our favorite things to d

Isaac!!!

I have been SO bad about blogging that I decided it was time to blog again, since my life in Mississippi gives me so much spare time! As many of you know, hurricane Isaac hit this past week and I am excited to share my experience with everyone. Living in Utah we don't ever get as much rain as I have seen this past week. We are so used to snow and honestly, I prefer the snow.  I never thought I would say that but it is true. Can't wait for snow, this rain stuff is not super fun. The storm wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The only things I didn't enjoy were the not leaving the house, the zero power, and the I am totally alone part. Sam had to stay on base and I had to stay off! Luckily Sam enjoyed things like power and friends. I am SO grateful that we were kept safe during the storm and couldn't ask for more. I didn't feel like the hurricane was bad at all..I was actually really surprised about how worked up everyone was..but who knows? I don't know

Mr. Coffey says goodbye to his hair...(well most of it)

As you all know Sam will be leaving on Tuesday. We have had such a great week together, but that is for another day. As for today we shaved Sam's precious faux hawk. Sam has had this hairstyle ever since we met and for a long time before that...it's been agreed that if we have a boy someday, he too, will have this faux hawk hairstyle. So it's pretty special to him. Anyway today he said goodbye to it. We were both a little nervous, but it turned out to be not so bad. I hope you all enjoy the pics.

So it begins..

This weekend was the beginning of what our lives will be like for the next 6 years or longer. Sam had his very first drill weekend. He was so excited about the whole thing  and really loved it. He also is SO sore from all the exercise that he had to endure over the weekend. We came to the realization this weekend that we should really be going to the gym..so today we are venturing out to buy some memberships to the fitness center. Anyway back to the story...Sam FINALLY got a little more info. about when he may be leaving. Our recruiter has submitted two dates for us..one in the middle of April and one the middle of May. We are hoping for April simply because the sooner he leaves the sooner he will be home and because if he leaves in May he will miss his younger brother coming home from his mission by just a couple weeks, which would just be so frustrating. So here we are hoping for April.  Sam had much information about training when he came home and was so excited to share it all with

The Babies!

We had something very exciting happen for us this week. Well I wil give you all a hint..this is my very first post written on my new computer.  So let me back up..for those of you who don't know my husband very well, he is a VERY big fan of Apple and all of their products!! He has a very old Macbook but it basically doesn't work. We both got our old computers around the same time and for the past few months they have been really falling apart. We decided that we both really wanted new ones not just because the want but because the need for them. With Sam leaving for basic training in the near future we really wanted laptops that would be more reliable for facetime. So we finally got the laptops that we have always wanted and so far, we are very happy with them.  This was such a big experience for us because Apple products tend to be expensive.  I brought along my sister when we made our purchase so that we could have her take pictures along the way.  At the Apple Store   New

And today our life changed..

Today we had a very life changing experience. We have been meeting for months with an Air National Guard recruiter, and today was the day that Sam and I signed our life away..well at least 6 years of it. We have been thinking about doing this for a very long time and we have been preparing in many ways for this change. Sam was sworn in today February 2,2012 as an airman in the Utah Air Guard. He is in the Engineering installation squadron.  I know he will be great, it will be a big change, but I think it will be for the better. We are not sure of a date that he officially reports for duty, but he is officially part of the whole big military life. We are excited, and hope that this decision will bring great things to our life as well as the blessings that come with serving our country. From what Sam's mom tells me he has wanted to join since the attacks on September 11. I am so glad that he will be able to accomplish one of his big dreams. We have so much family support and we are s

Grandmas are the BEST!

When Sam and I got married we received a few quilts from our grandmas. This winter we have used them all and they have been wonderful. I love the way they look on our bed, and I have been very excited to show them off. My grandma has been making me blankets since day one, and I love it! I have SO many quilts from her that it's not even funny. When I got my ceder chest for my 16th birthday my grandma had me come over and get the quilt that I chose when I was little for my wedding quilt. I was told to put it in my ceder chest until I got married, and then I could use it. Well then I got engaged, and grandma decided I needed a quilt that fit Sam and I. We then went shopping for material, and it was super fun. After we got married we ended up with 3 new quilts for our bed. They are all so beautiful and we are so lucky to have such wonderful grandmothers who care about us. They are both very talented women and I have uploaded some pictures so you who read my blog can see for yourself. I

Christmastime!

Image
I have been so terrible at blogging. Well to start we officially had our first Thanksgiving and Christmas together. It's been great. We have been so blessed to have been able to do so many things over the holiday season. We have spent much time with family and have had the opportunity to go to the festival of trees, the lights at temple square and many Christmas parties.  We also had an opportunity to sit on Santa Claus' lap and tell him what we wanted for Christmas, it was great!  Christmas day may have been the most exciting day for us aside from our wedding day. We couldn't sleep and watched multiple movies throughout the night before Christmas. We ended up waking up at the crack of dawn..wait before the crack of dawn. Yay us! We had such a great Christmas, and Santa was even able to come. We hope that next year Christmas will be even better! Sam and I even had an opportunity this holiday season to make our first big purchase together. We got a new car. We are very happy
